Itacaré is a small, quiet, but lively safe fishing village in the middle of protected Atlantic rain forest (Mata Atlantica). It is
located in the South of Bahia, one of the Brazilian States. An extremely relaxed lifestyle is combined with typical Afro-Brazilian culture.

Once it was a famous hideout for pirates. Later it became a lively stronghold for Bahian cacao-exportation, and nowadays
is a relaxed village inhabited by fishermen, capoeiristas, surfers, Brazilians and foreigners establishing a life close to nature.

It is a great holiday spot, there are no huge hotels spoiling the natural beauty, there are stunning white sandy beaches with coconut palms offering a shelter from the sunshine.

A choice of restaurants offering all different world cuisines, bumping nightlive with live forró, samba, sambarock, reagge bands and concerts all through the year.

The atmosphere of the town is very relaxed. Tourists are very well accepted, welcomed and appreciated by the local people and businesses.

Capoeira and surfing are the two activities that make Itacaré so popular. It has one of the most beautiful, pure and natural forms of capoeira in Brazil; full of history and basic fundamentals. Mestres offer an incredible approach to capoeira training and the rodas. They are students of Mestre Ezequiel whose Mestre was Mestre Bimba; that on its own speaks a lot.

Many tourists come to experiment the typical Bahian food, fresh fish and sea food is always available.

  but may rise up to 40ºC in the hot season (from December to March).
