Yes, however we try to safe the paper as much as we can in order to prevent the demolition of world source of wood. So we prefer do all our communicaiton via internet.

Does Itacaré have world class quality capoeira?
Capoeira comes from Bahia, in Itacaré capoeira is beautiful, smart, tricky, spectaculous, breathtaking, fun, lively, natural, so fast, tough, delicate. Amazing! Every capoeirista used to train and play in the western way of practicing capoeira should experience the bahian capoeira.

How safe is traveling in Brazil for single women?
Usually quite safe. However single woman should not be walking alone at night or in some remote places. If you stick to the touristy spots during daylight you are fine. Bus stations, airport are allways full of people so there is not that much of a danger. Please be careful though and don’t expose your cameras, expensive sunglasses etc. you might be robbed.

I have some days before/after the capoeira course to travel, where do you recommend me to go?
Porto Seguro, Trancoso, Morro de Sao Paolo, Salvador, Arraial D’Ajuda.

Are there any pre-requisites for the capoeir course participation?
You train in the place where the capoeira comes from (Bahia), your don’t have to worry about where to train, with what group, all the instructors, mestre, contramestre are amazing, you’ll get to know the Brazilian culture, you integrate, change the cultures, you experience capoeira in its purest form not spoiled by commercialisation and money.

Are there beginner and intermediate classes or does everyone go together?
This depends on the number of people in each group. Usually you train together but every level gets its own attention and tasks to perform according to everyone's physical condition.

Can I extend my package once in Itacaré?
Yes, you can and a lot of people do so because Itacaréis one of the places you want never leave.

Do I need to bring beach towels? Also, are flip flops ok for our walk to the beach?
Yes, bring your towel. Flip flops are the best choice for shoe wear in Itacaré

Do we train capoiera every day of the week?
We train on six days, and there is a roda on Saturday too. However Sundays are relaxed days.

What does a typical Capoeira Holiday day look like?
After the breakfast you go to the place provided where you will have a music class, or forro, samba de roda class etc. in a place provided. Then the other capoeira class usually more tiring one is taking place on the beach at 4 pm with the amazing mestre.

How far will I progress in a two-weeks course?
You will see that you will be able to do things that you thought you can never do. Lot’s of fundamentos, great moves, preparation moves, reinforcement will be passed on to you.

I'm a beginner and my partner already does capoiea, can we take the course together?
Yes.

I'm bringing my kids, will they be able to do capoeira?
Yes, there are plenty of other children who do capoiera. The participation at all the classes depends on their age. Plese get in touch with us for any special request and info about kids at capoeira holidays.

In which language do you teach your students?
All the assistance in organisation, accommodation, etc. is done in few foreign languages, however the classes are taught usually in Portuguese with some basic English. However the capoiera language is universal so you will be fine. Or take our Portuguese language classes.

On which beaches do the capoeira lessons take places?
Resende, Costa, Tiririca.

How do you dress for the classes?
Comfortable shorts, T-shirt for the daily training. Get capoeira trousers for the rodas.

Can you help me getting my domestic Brazilian flight tickets?
We can advise you on that however we don’t sell any flight tickets. You can book your domestic flight with Gol, TAM, WEBjet or OceanAir. Nearest international airport is in Salvador, the nearest national airport is in Ilheus. We can arrange a transfer from Salvador airport at additional price. The transfer from Ilheus is included in the price of the package.

Do I need any vaccines for travelling to this area of Brazil?
When you travel to Bahia you don’t need to get any vaccination. However the yellow fever vaccination is recommended for travelling in Brazil. Please visit the Brazilian government pages for any news concerning vaccination.

How do I get from Salvador to Itacaré by bus?
There are three busses a day leaving the rodoviaria in Salvador. The journey takes about 10 hours and costs between 74-150 Reals depending on the type of bus. The company that operates this route is Aguia Branca.

How do I get to Itacaré, once I'm in Brazil (for example in Rio de Janeiro)?
You can get the domestic flight with some of the companies that operates in Brazil such as Gol, TAM or WebJet, OceanAir. You can also take a bus from Rio to Ilheus (23hrs, with the Sao Geraldo company) and then the bus from Ilheus to Itacaré.

Can I buy capoeira trousers and other capoeira accessories in Itacaré?

Yes.

Is internet and wi-fi available?

Yes, there are internet cafés with a wi-fi.

I'm vegetarian, what are my options in Itacaré?

There is a vegetarian restaurant, the best option for you is to get your food from some of the restaurants where you eat for kilo – you choose what you put on your plate and than you pay the price according to a weight of your plate.

What kind of banks are available in town? Are there ATM machines?

There is the Banco do Brasil where you can find the ATM machine. Other ATM machine is located in the local petrol station. Sometimes the machines run out of money, or during the week-end the cash withdrawal is limited to 300 Reals.

What's the night life like in Itacaré?

Amazing. There is a life bands plying everyday in one of the clubs. Life to reggae, forro, samba and always there is a good music played on the main street where you can start your night with some nice freshly made cocktails.

Are there many mosquitoes in Itacaré and, do they transmit diseases?

There are periods of the year and times of the day when the mosquitoes are quite annoying.
They don't transmit diseases.
Be aware of the Dengue fever. Dengue is caused by a larvae of a mosquito. The larve is found in water that has been standing long time without any movement.

How far is the lodging from the school/from the centre of Itacaré?

In Itacaré, all is withing walking distance. The lodging is in the centre.

My flight leaves after 12pm, will I have to pay extra accommodation?

You should leave the room before 12pm, however you can usually leave your baggage somewhere in the pousada.

How far in advance do I have do book?

Booking is made more then 60 days prior to the start of your capoeira holiday; if the booking is made within the 60 days the full price of the holiday has to be paid all in one go.
